MUNICH AIRPORT
The nearest and most accessible airport, less than 2 hours by car from Bayerisch Eisenstein. There is also a bus/train link to Bayerisch Eisenstein.
Most car hire companies in Germany have restrictions on which cars can be taken into the Czech Republic - check before you book!

The bus/train connection from Munich usually takes just under 3 hours. The last connection leaves Munich airport at 18.00 and arrives in Bayerisch Eisenstein at 21.11. The first connection in the morning leaves Bayerisch Eisenstein at 07.42 and arrives at the airport at 10.41.
By hire car from Munich airport, just follow the signs to the autobahn to Deggendorf and then country roads to Bayerisch Eisenstein (total journey time less than 2 hours).
NUERNBERG AIRPORT
Is about 2 hours drive away - Air Berlin have 1 flight per day from Stansted but there are also connecting flights from other UK and Irish airports. From the airport, take the underground to Nuernberg, leaving the airport at 12.09. From Nuernberg Main Station, take the 12.31, change at Plattling, arrive Bayerisch Eisenstein 15.11. The last connection leaves from Nuernberg airport at 18.09, arriving in Bayerisch Eisenstein at 21.11.
By hire car from Nuernberg airport, take the autobahn to Regensburg, then Deggendorf and then country roads to Bayerisch Eisenstein (total journey time just over 2 hours).
LINZ (Austria) AIRPORT
Ryanair have a daily flight from Stansted on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, return flights on the same day. The flight arrives at 16.25. There is a shuttle bus at 16.57 and 17.57, arriving at Wels station at 17.20 and 18.20. The last train which will connect to Bayerisch Eisenstein leaves Wels at 18.30, change at Plattling, and arrives in Bayerisch Eisenstein at 21.11.
By hire car from Linz airport, follow the signs to the autobahn to Passau and then Deggendorf, then country roads to Bayerisch Eisenstein (total journey time just over 2 hours).
PRAGUE (Czech Republic) AIRPORT
Is 2 hours drive away but not always recommended in winter - the road conditions immediately across the border in the Bohemian Forest can be tricky in snow. By rail, the journey time is 4 hours to Bayerisch Eisenstein - the last connection leaves Prague Smichov Station at 17.24, arriving in Bayerisch Eisenstein at 21.29. Cars hired at Prague airport can obviously be driven back into Czech Republic without restrictions.
From Prague airport, get from the airport to the motorway to Plzen. Follow signs to Plzen, then Klatovy, then Zelezna Ruda - this is the last town on the Czech side of the border - then follow the road across the border. There are few signs for Bayerisch Eisenstein in the Czech Republic.

SALZBURG (Austria) AIRPORT
From Heathrow and other major airports by BA and Lufthansa. Ryanair from Stansted, plus other regional airports mainly in the skiing season only.
Salzburg to Bayerisch Eisenstein takes just under 3 hours by car, about 4 hours by train. The last connection leaves Salzburg station (allow time to get there from the airport) at 17.08, arriving in Bayerisch Eisenstein at 21.11.
FRANKFURT AIRPORT
has the best international connection and is about 5 hours by train or car to Bayerisch Eisenstein.
