Things to do in Bavaria
Swimming in Bayerisch Eisenstein
There are a number of opportunities for swimming in the area: from leisure complexes to simpler indoor/outdoor pools to natural swimming ponds and lakes. We have swimming towels for you to borrow.
Lam – Osserbad
This is the main leisure complex for swimming in the area. About 20 minutes drive and accessible by bus. 4 outdoor and 3 indoor pools. Area for small children, 2 water slides, Finnish sauna, steam bath, solarium, café/bistro. Family ticket (for 2 adults and up to 5 children) costs less than €20 for the whole day. Open everyday June, July, August. Rest of the year can be closed Tuesdays. Also closed late April and early November to early December.
Zwiesel
Indoor pool and outdoor fun pool, sauna, warm water massage, pirate ship. Opening hours vary. 10-15 minutes by car. Carfree: take the train to Zwiesel, the swimming pool (Erlebnis Bad) is a few minutes walk.
Regen
Several open air pools, slide, diving boards, kiosk and bistro. By the B85 at Regen.
There are also a lot of natural bathing ponds and lakes. These are available for anyone to use free of charge, do not use chemicals, are not heated, usually have grassy areas for sunbathing and parking. They are only open in the main summer months and there is normally no attendant or lifeguard.
There is a small natural swimming lake at Regenhuette - carfree by bus. There are also natural pools for swimming at Spiegelau (with beach volleyball and mini golf) - carfree by train via Zwiesel- and Lohberg (Naturbad Huber Weiher, open June to August, fed by a spring).
