March
Bayerisch Eisenstein and the Arber in March
From the 1st weekend until Easter, the village is usually deserted again. Not all restaurants and attractions are open but the longer days and sunshine make it a very pleasant time to visit.
As it is Lent, most villages have a 'Starkbierfest' at some time during the month - strong beer to support the fasting period! These fests also usually have a 'cabaret' - a local comic monologue, in thick Bavarian dialect, with lots of in jokes about the locals. Even if you don't understand a word, the atmosphere is fun and the locals always welcome holiday guests to their events.
There is normally plenty of snow until Easter and it is an excellent time for skiing.
Note: Easter usually falls in April and is covered in that month - the same events take place even if Easter falls in March.
