February
This is the main skiing season in the Bavarian Forest. The weather is usually cold (can go down to -18C at night) and there is plenty of snow. The peak of the skiing season is the Faschingswoche (carnival week) when all the Bavarian schools are on holiday. The village is packed. Best avoided by people without children on holiday that week (21st-28th February in 2009)! The German school holidays usually continue until the 1st weekend in March.
